Schedule 40 is very common used wall thickness for steel pipe fittings, which have a thicker wall for high pressure applicaton. The representative butt weld fittings are elbow, bend, cap and reducer. All of them are manufactured according to ASME B16.9. Schedule 40 is nominal pipe size (NPS), not pipe outside diameter (OD).
